About Ryan Shaughnessy

Hi, I'm Ryan

Financial Advisor & Director of Planning | CFP®, LUTCF®

I work with individuals and families within 5 to 10 years of retirement who want clarity around their financial future.

Most people I meet aren’t looking for something complicated, they simply want to understand what they have, how it works, and whether they’re going to be okay.

That’s where I come in.

Over time, accounts get opened, investments change, and paperwork piles up. Before long, it’s hard to see how everything fits together.

Empty white space.

That’s where I come in.

I’ll walk through everything with you, step by step, simplify what’s there, and help you build a clear picture of how it all works together.

From there, we focus on the decisions that matter most:

  • When to take Social Security
  • How to think about taxes in retirement
  • How to turn your savings into a reliable income plan

A big part of what I do is help people organize what I often call their “financial junk drawer.”

My goal is to make things simple, practical, and easy to act on.

How It Works

At the end of the day, this is your money.” - Ryan Shaughnessy

My role is not to push decisions, it’s to provide clear guidance so you can move forward with confidence.

Some conversations are structured, others are more open and personal, but they’re always centered around what matters most to you and your family.

Many of the people I work with first meet me at one of my retirement workshops.

Those sessions are designed to give you a high-level understanding of key topics like Social Security and taxes. From there, we sit down together and apply the ideas that make sense to you directly to your situation.

My dad became a financial advisor a couple of years before I was born, so I had a front-row seat to the impact he made throughout my life. He cared deeply for the individuals, couples, and families he served, and at the same time, he always made time for our family.

He was present, he served others well, and found ways to give back, whether that was volunteering or coaching my brother and me in soccer.

That example stuck with me.

It showed me that this work isn’t just about finances, it’s about people, relationships, and helping others navigate important decisions in their lives.

Becoming a CFP® was important to me because I wanted to be equipped to do this the right way, to bring clarity, provide guidance, and serve people well.

What I enjoy most is sitting down with someone, slowing things down, and helping them clearly see where they are and what comes next.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. Whether we’re playing in the backyard or swimming in any body of water we can find, that time together means everything.

I also enjoy serving and having my family alongside me. I serve as the Director for CCC Upward Sports, a youth recreational league for kindergarten through high school students that provides an opportunity for every child to grow, enjoy sports, and keep sports in perspective.

I love cheering on my kids, whether it’s my son in football and soccer or my girls in soccer and dance. I’ll openly admit I occasionally need a tissue when I see their love for what they do and the way they show up for their teammates.
